(1) 귀하가 인보이스를 통한 결제(PBI) 고객이면 대한민국 원화(KRW) 와 달러(USD)가 대한민국 계정에서 유일하게 지원되는 결제 통화가 됩니다. 신용 카드 고객의 경우 원화(KRW)가 유일하게 지원되는 결제 통화가 됩니다.
(2) 요율 책정, 사용량 측정 및 요금 계산은 계속 USD로 이루어집니다.
(3) 세금계산서는 PBI 고객에게만 발행됩니다. 신용 카드 고객은 결제 프로세서에서 발행되는 세금계산서 대신 신용 카드 전표를 수령합니다. 신용 카드 전표가 세금계산서를 대신할 수 있습니다.
(4) 인보이스를 통해 결제하는 고객은 더 이상 대한민국 계좌에 대해 ACH, SEPA 자동 이체 또는 수표로 결제할 수 없습니다. 대신 계좌 이체 또는 전자 자금 이체(EFT)는 계속 이용할 수 있습니다.
(5) 신용 카드로 결제하는 고객은 대한민국 은행에서 발급한 국제 공용 브랜드(American Express, Visa, MasterCard, China Union Pay, and Japan Credit Bureau) 신용 카드로만 결제할 수 있습니다.
(6) 변경 이후에는, AWS 서비스 계약 및 모든 인보이스 상 대한민국 계정의 계약 당사자가 Amazon Web Services, Inc.에서 Amazon Web Services Korea LLC로 변경됩니다. 현재 AWS 서비스 계약에 따라 AWS 서비스를 사용하시는 경우, 변경 이후에도 AWS 서비스를 계속 사용하시면 새로운 AWS 서비스계약에 동의하시는 것으로 간주됩니다.

7. 어떤 인보이스 문서를 받게 되나요?

Amazon Web Services Korea LLC가 Amazon Web Services, Inc.를 대신해 서비스 리셀러로 변경됨에 따라 지급 요청서(RFP)을 발행합니다를. 참고로, '개별 인보이스(Commercial invoice)'는 '지급 요청서(Request for payment)'로 명칭이 변경됩니다. 지급 요청서는 지급인 계정(Payer account)의 청구지 주소(Billing address)로 반영됩니다.

Amazon Web Services Korea LLC는 모든 PBI 고객에 대한 세금계산서도 발행할 예정이므로 PBI 고객인 경우 세금 설정에 있는 모든 세부 정보가 정확한지 확인해 주세요. 귀하가 지급인 계정(Payer account) 하의 여러 국가에 연결된 계정(Linked account)를 가지고 계시면, 지급인 계정(Payer account) 하의 세금 설정이 동일한 모든 연결 계정(Linked account)에 대해 세금계산서가 통합되어 발행된다는 것을 알아두시기 바랍니다.

모든 PBI 고객은 각 지급인 계정(Payer account) 의 거래 건당 총 3 종류의 인보이스, 즉, Amazon Web Services Korea로부터 직접발행되는 RFP와 Supplementary Billing 서류 및 (제3자 업체를 통해 이메일로) 세금계산서를 받으시게 됩니다. 신용카드 결제 고객은 각 지급인 계정(Payer account)의 거래 건당 2 종류의 인보이스, 즉, Amazon Web Services Korea로부터 RFP와 (결제 대행 업체를 통해 이메일로) 신용카드 매출전표를 받으시게 됩니다.

8. Amazon Web Services Korea LLC에서 지원하는 결제 통화 및 결제 방법은 무엇인가요?

Amazon Web Services Korea LLC는 대한민국의 은행 및 카드사에서 발급한 신용/체크카드 (KB국민카드, 삼성카드, 신한카드, 롯데카드, 하나카드, 현대카드, NH농협카드, 우리카드, BC카드) 결제 방법이 지원됩니다. 그 외에 자동 이체와 같은 다른 결제 방법은 허용되지 않습니다. 1. What is Amazon Web Services Korea LLC and when will it launch?

Amazon Web Services Korea LLC will replace Amazon Web Services, Inc. as the new AWS services reseller for accounts located in South Korea. Amazon Web Services Korea LLC will also provide all AWS invoicing, billing, and payment services for AWS service usage for these accounts.

The AWS Customer Agreement will be updated to reflect Amazon Web Services Korea LLC replacing Amazon Web Services, Inc. for accounts located in South Korea.

Amazon Web Services Korea LLC will launch on December 1st, 2020.

2. Which of my AWS accounts are affected?

Accounts determined to be located in South Korea. These are accounts with legal business address, billing address, contact address or payment method issuer country to be in South Korea.

3. Why is AWS launching Amazon Web Services Korea LLC as a new service reseller?

We regularly review our business structure to ensure that we are able to best serve our customers. We are launching Amazon Web Services Korea LLC to allow customers based in South Korea to purchase AWS services from a local entity based in South Korea and to support the growing adoption of cloud computing across the region.

4. What can I do to prepare for the launch of Amazon Web Services Korea LLC?

Please make sure that your account details are all up to date to ensure proper invoicing and to receive any notifications or updates regarding the launch. We recommend checking that the following areas are all up-to-date for each of your AWS accounts:
(1) Tax Settings
(2) Default Payment Method
(3) Alternate Contacts
Please also make sure that your Accounts Payable (AP) department or the person responsible for making payments for your accounts is aware of this launch, and is ready to make payment to Amazon Web Services Korea LLC. This may include updating records in billing systems, opening purchase orders, or verifying that your bank can remit payment in South Korean Won (KRW) to a South Korean bank account. We will inform you of new remittance instructions as we approach launch of Amazon Web Services Korea LLC.

If you designate a third party, such as an affiliate company in your corporate group, outside of South Korea to make payments to Amazon Web Services Korea LLC for web services on your behalf (e.g., through a payer account located outside of South Korea), you may have bank reporting obligations within South Korea. Please consult your financial or legal advisors.

5. Will my access to AWS services change? Will I experience service down time?

No, there will be no change in the services currently offered through Amazon Web Services, Inc., and you can continue using the same services you use today with Amazon Web Services Korea LLC. Your account number, content, configurations, access rights, and security settings will remain the same.

6. What will change when my contracting party changes to Amazon Web Services Korea LLC?

(1) If you are a Pay by Invoice (PBI) customer, South Korean Won (KRW) and USD will be the only supported payment currency. For credit card customers, KRW will be the only supported payment currency.
(2) Pricing, Metering and Billing will continue to happen in USD.
(3) Value Added Tax (“VAT”) Invoices will be issued only to PBI customers. Credit Card customers will receive credit card slips instead of VAT invoices from the payment processor. The credit card slips are government approved form of VAT documentation.
(4) Customers that pay by invoice will no longer be able to pay with ACH, SEPA direct debit or pay by check for South Korea accounts. They can continue to pay by wire or electronic fund transfer (EFT).
(5) Customers that pay by credit card will be able to pay only with any co-branded (American Express, Visa, MasterCard, China Union Pay, and Japan Credit Bureau) credit card issued by South Korean bank.
(6) The AWS Customer Agreement and all invoicing documents will be updated with Amazon Web Services Korea LLC replacing Amazon Web Services, Inc. as the contracting party for accounts located in South Korea. If you use AWS services under the AWS Customer Agreement, by continuing to use AWS services after launch, you agree to the new AWS Customer Agreement.

Billing, Payment, and Remittance Questions

7. What invoicing documents should I expect?

Amazon Web Services Korea LLC will issue a Request For Payment (RFP) to replace your Amazon Web Services, Inc. commercial invoice. This document will replace the word “invoice” with “request for payment”, and all references to Amazon Web Services, Inc. will change to reflect Amazon Web Services Korea LLC as the new service reseller. Your commercial RFP will reflect the paying account’s billing address.

Amazon Web Services Korea LLC will also generate VAT invoices for all pay by invoice (PBI) customers. If you are a PBI customer, please check your Tax Settings to ensure that all details are correct. If you are a part of an Organization, please note that tax invoices within a payer account will be consolidated, when possible, for all accounts with the same Tax Settings.

Every PBI customer will receive a total of 3 invoices per payer account transaction - A RFP and a Supplementary Billing document from Amazon Web Services Korea LLC, and a VAT invoice (emailed from a third party vendor). Credit card customers will only receive 2 invoices per payer account transaction - RFP from Amazon Web Services Korea LLC and credit card slip (emailed from payment processor).

8. What payment currencies and payment methods are supported by Amazon Web Services Korea LLC?

Amazon Web Services Korea LLC will accept Korean credit/debit cards issued by Korean banks and card companies (KB Kookmin, Samsung, Shinhan, Lotte, Hana, Hyundai, NH Nonghyup, Woori, and BC card). Other payment methods, including direct debit, will not be accepted. Credit card customers transacting with Amazon Web Services Korea LLC can only pay in KRW. Pay by Invoice Customers will be able to pay in USD or KRW. Service pricing will continue to be published in USD, and amounts due will be computed in USD and converted to KRW for billing, if customer chooses KRW as its preferred currency.

9. I pay for my AWS services on invoicing terms. Is there anything I need to do?

Please make sure that you and your Accounts Payable (AP) department or the person responsible for making payments for your accounts are prepared to remit payment to Amazon Web Services Korea LLC to a bank located in South Korea. You may need to check with your AP department or your bank to ensure you can remit payment to a new bank account in South Korea, or to verify that any existing purchase order will cover usage billed by Amazon Web Services Korea LLC.

You will also need to provide a Tax Registration Number (TRN) and Tax Registration Certificate via the Tax Settings page of the AWS Management Console. If you are unable to provide these tax details, you will need to provide a valid South Korea co-branded credit card (American Express, Visa, MasterCard, China Union Pay, and Japan Credit Bureau).

We will inform you of new remittance instructions as we approach launch of Amazon Web Services Korea LLC.

10. I pay for my AWS services by non-South Korean bank issued credit card or direct debit, and I want to transact with Amazon Web Services Korea LLC. How can I do that?

Amazon Web Services Korea LLC will not accept payment by direct debit or credit cards issued by a bank outside of South Korea. If you are paying with one of these payment methods, please switch to a co-branded (American Express, Visa, MasterCard, China Union Pay, and Japan Credit Bureau ) issued by a South Korean bank or switch to the invoicing payment method. If you are interested in switching to the invoicing payment method to transact with Amazon Web Services Korea LLC, please open a support case to determine your eligibility.

11. What are the remittance details for Amazon Web Services Korea LLC?

You can find the remittance details on the footer of your invoices for AWS Korea that can be downloaded in the AWS Billing Console. If you want to change your payment method to Pay By Invoice, or need a copy of the bank letter with current remittance instructions, or other authentication requirements, please contact us for Account or billing support.

12. How do I handle invoices coming from different SORs without paying to the wrong bank account?

Customers of Amazon Web Services Korea LLC will start receiving RFPs from December 1st for any subscription purchases and will receive the first anniversary RFP in the first week of January 2021. These invoices payments need to be remitted to the new HSBC bank accounts opened in South Korea. Any existing and new commercial invoices (including Marketplace and telecommunications) from Amazon Web Services, Inc. need to be remitted to the existing Wellsfargo account in US.

13. What happens if I paid for an invoice to the wrong bank account?

Please reach out to the email address listed at the bottom of the invoice if you feel you have paid to the wrong bank account. Internally, our teams proactively check if a customer has paid to a wrong bank account and also take appropriate remediation steps.

Tax Questions

14. Amazon Web Services, Inc. was charging VAT on my invoices. Will this change?

Amazon Web Services, Inc, is a business established in the United States. Due to a Korean VAT Law change, which occurred on July 1, 2015, Amazon Web Services, Inc was required to register for VAT in Korea under a special registration procedure established for non-resident suppliers of digital services and collect VAT from individual customers (sometimes referred to as B2C customers). If you are charged taxes today , you will continue to be charged taxes on your invoices.

15. Amazon Web Services, Inc. was not charging VAT on my invoices. Will this change?

Yes, following its launch, Amazon Web Services Korea LLC will begin charging 10% VAT to all customers. If you are a pay by invoice (PBI) customer and had previously provided AWS with your Korean VAT registration number in your Tax Settings page (link), please return to this page and update the page with any new tax information requested in order for Amazon Web Services Korea LLC to issue you with VAT invoices which meet your input VAT recovery needs. If you pay by credit card, you will receive a credit card slip for your input VAT recovery and documentation requirements from both NHN Korea Cyber Payments (KCP) and your credit card company.

16. If I update my tax address mid-month, how is South Korean VAT calculated?

AWS calculates and applies applicable VAT based on the account location for each individual account at the time an invoice is generated. One-time purchases like Reserved Instances, Domain Names, or Savings Plans will be invoiced at the time of purchase. Your regular monthly usage will be invoiced around the third day of the month following usage.

If you are a Pay By Invoice customer, please check your Tax Settings and confirm or update your Tax Registration Number (TRN) and tax address to ensure that your VAT invoices reflect the correct details and that you are billed by the correct entity.

17. Who should be updating their Tax Settings Page?

We encourage all customers that have a Tax Registration Number (TRN) to update/add data to all the sections in the Tax Settings Page in Korean Language and make sure it matches their Tax Registration Certificate, and upload the tax registration certificate unless you specifically guided to receive a separate instruction from T-30 communication email. The 10 digit Tax Registration Number should be added in the following format XXX-XX-XXXXX (without the prefix ‘KR’). If you are a Pay By Invoice customer or a customer with a registered business in Korea that purchases Marketplace services, you are required to fill out the Tax Settings Page in order to receive the VAT invoices.

Consolidated Billing Customers and Reseller Questions

19. My account is the master (payer) account for an Organization (consolidated billing family). How do I check that all my member (linked) accounts have the correct address and associated AWS seller entity?

Master (payer) account owners can see the Tax Address and AWS seller of record associated with each account by visiting the Tax Settings page in the AWS Management Console. If you are the owner of a master (payer) account for an Organization, you can override the Tax Settings for all member (linked) accounts based in South Korea or any other country where we accept a Tax Registration Number (TRN) with your own Tax information. The far-right column will indicate each account’s seller of record (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Inc., AWS EMEA SARL, or Amazon Web Services Korea LLC). If you change an account’s Tax Settings, it may take up to 24 hours for the seller of record to be updated accordingly. If all accounts in your Organization share the same TRN, please consider enabling Tax Settings Inheritance.

20. My account is the master (payer) account for an Organization (consolidated billing family) and I have member (linked) accounts based in different countries, what should I expect?

AWS will determine the appropriate AWS seller of record for each individual account based on the account’s account location. If you have member (linked) accounts being served by different sellers, you will receive separate commercial invoices or Requests for Payment (RFPs) from the applicable seller of record based on each account’s location. Please note that you will be set by default to remit payment separately for invoices or RFPs for your linked accounts outside of South Korea in USD.

Each seller of record will have its own remittance instructions on the invoice or RFP. Payment must be remitted in the currency displayed on the applicable invoice to the applicable seller of record.

21. I am an AWS Partner/Solution Provider. How does Amazon Web Services Korea LLC impact me?

As an AWS Partner/Solution Provider, your agreements for AWS services and terms that govern your participation in the AWS Partner Network will be updated to reflect Amazon Web Services Korea LLC as the contracting party.

Please continue to follow the longstanding operational guidance to apply your own Tax Settings to all of your linked accounts. You should enable Tax Settings Inheritance on the Tax Settings page in the AWS Management Console to ensure that your tax details are used for all of your linked accounts. By ensuring your own information is on all linked accounts, AWS can calculate VAT correctly, if applicable. As an AWS Partner/Solution Provider, you are responsible for managing and charging your end customers applicable taxes.

23. If I have a linked account, can I see my usage details in KRW in the Billing Console?

In the Billing Console, billing details in KRW is only shown at the payer account level. Linked accounts will continue to see their usage details in USD only.

Exchange Rate Questions

24. How does AWS price its services?

AWS prices its services in USD, and converts USD prices to local currencies based on foreign exchange (FX) rates determined when the invoice is generated.

25. How can I choose to pay in South Korean Won (KRW)?

Existing Credit card customers don’t have to take any action as their preferred currency will be overridden and defaulted to KRW. Existing Pay by Invoice (PBI) customers that have their preferred currency set as USD will need to go to My Account page and change their Payment Currency Preference to ‘KRW’ when they start transacting with Amazon Web Services Korea LLC. PBI customers with non-USD preferred currency will be overridden and defaulted to KRW. Alternatively, any customer transacting with Amazon Web Services Korea LLC can go to My Accounts page and change their Payment Currency Preference to ‘KRW'. Customers that have not set a preferred currency in their account will be defaulted to 'KRW'.

26. How does AWS calculate the FX rates?

AWS determines the FX rates on the day the invoice is generated. FX rates are aligned with market rates published by leading financial institutions and are subject to market fluctuations.

27. Where can the customers see the FX rate used by AWS?

AWS invoices will display the USD amount, local currency amount and the FX rate used for the conversion. Customers can find their invoices in their AWS accounts.

28. Does the FX rate calculation involve any additional rules?

For some currencies, additional rules may apply depending on local factors, such as regulatory requirements.

29. Can AWS notify customers about the FX rate change in advance?

No. FX rates are determined on the day the invoice is generated. AWS cannot predict and communicate in advance the changes in non-USD prices due to currency fluctuations. However, customers can see the historical FX rates used by AWS.

30. Can AWS customize the FX rate calculation if customers request?

AWS uses the same FX rate calculation for customers paying in a given currency.

31. Does AWS offer any discounts on FX rates?

AWS does not use FX rates as a discounting mechanism. For discounting related inquiries, customers can reach out to their AWS Sales representative.

Additional Questions

32. What happens to my AWS Training and AWS Professional Services?

Customers will continue to purchase AWS Training and AWS Professional Services, receive RFPs and VAT invoices from Amazon Web Services Korea LLC as they do today. Customers will have to change their remittance instructions to the new local South Korea bank account.

33. What happens with my existing RIs/Savings Plans?

Any Reserved Instance (RIs) or Savings Plans (SPs) will continue to apply towards any eligible matching usage, regardless of any change in your AWS service provider since purchase. Any recurring hourly charges for an RI or SP will be billed by the AWS seller for the account whose usage is covered by the RI/SP. If the RI or SP does not match any usage, it will be billed by the AWS seller for the account that originally purchased the RI/SP.

For example, if a linked account in Germany purchases an RI, any upfront payment would be billed by AWS EMEA SARL as seller. And if usage by the German linked account is covered by the RI or if the RI does not match any usage, applicable recurring charges would be billed to the German linked account by AWS EMEA SARL. If usage by another linked account based in South Korea is covered by the RI, applicable recurring usage charges would be billed to South Korean linked account by Amazon Web Services Korea LLC.

34. I have more questions, whom can i contact?

35. How many times can a customer make changes to their preferred currency settings?

There is no cap to the number of times customers can change their preferred currency settings.

36. If I am a Pay by Invoice customer and choose to pay in USD, how will my VAT invoices be generated?

If you Pay by Invoice and elect to pay in USD, AWSK will use the exchange rates mandated under the Korea VAT Law to convert USD charges into KRW solely for purposes of VAT invoice generation. VAT invoice will be generated in Korean Won, while the Request for Payment (RFP) will be generated in USD.

37. What should I do if I not receive a credit card slip from the payment processor for a successfully paid invoice?

You can reach out to NHN Korea Cyber Payments (KCP), the payment processor for Amazon Web Services Korea LLC, at +82-2- 1544-8667. Their customer service team is accessible during business days between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM KST. You will be required to provide transaction details, including payment date, payment amount, the last 4-digits of your card and 8-digit issuer authorization code. You can find the authorization code on your card issuer’s web-portal or mobile application for each transaction. You will be able to provide KCP an email address of your choice to receive the credit card slip, as long as it is less than 60 characters in length. You can also update your email for receiving credit card slips on the Payment Methods page of the AWS console by clicking edit against your default payment method.

38. I find the total amount in RFP does not match to total amount in VAT invoice and Supplementary Billing Information. What should I do?

Please make the payment against the VAT invoice and Supplementary Billing Information. We are aware of the error in RFP and are in the process of resolving the issue.

39. What customer engagement and communications-related services will be offered from Amazon Web Services Korea LLC?

Amazon Connect, Amazon Pinpoint, Amazon SNS, Amazon SES and Amazon Chime services will be provided by Amazon Web Services Korea LLC, except for PSTN-related features which will continue to be invoiced by Amazon Web Services, Inc. in USD.

AWS Korea Marketplace - Buyers (Effective as of April 1. 2025)

40. What is changing?

If Amazon Web Services has identified that the location of your account is in South Korea, all products sold directly by third party sellers (3P products), except for Amazon Bedrock, will be invoiced from AWS Korea. All products sold by AWS or Amazon-affiliated entities (2P products) or sold using Amazon Bedrock, will continue to be invoiced from AWS, Inc.

41. What is the benefit of this change?

AWS Marketplace buyers in South Korea will contract with and receive AWS Marketplace invoices from the same AWS legal entity as for AWS Cloud services purchases, providing local invoicing and payment benefits.

42. How do I know from which legal entity will I receive an invoice?

If you are an AWS customer based in South Korea, you will now receive an invoice from AWS Korea for all products sold directly by third party sellers (3P products). If you are a VAT registered business and pay by invoice, you must enter your Tax Registration Number (TRN) on the Tax Settings page of the AWS billing console to receive the tax invoice. Please check your to tax settings to ensure that all details are correct. If you are a part of an Organization, please note that invoices will be consolidated when possible for all accounts with the same Tax Settings. Please note that 2P products, where AWS Marketplace or Amazon-affiliated entities are the Seller of Record (SOR), will be invoiced from Amazon Web Services, Inc (AWS Inc.)

43. I pay for my AWS Marketplace purchases by wire transfer. Is there anything I must do?

Yes. Any AWS Marketplace transactions through AWS Korea will have updated remittance instructions as we are creating Virtual Bank Accounts for each preferred payment currency. Please refer to the remittance information on the footer of your marketplace invoices for AWS Korea.

44. I pay for my AWS Marketplace purchases through credit card. Do I need to do anything to keep this payment method?

No, there is no change required. Please note that Korean credit/debit cards issued by Korean banks and card companies (KB Kookmin, Samsung, Shinhan, Lotte, Hana, Hyundai, NH Nonghyup, Woori, and BC card) are supported in AWS Korea. Credit cards cannot be used for purchasing Professional Services and AWS IQ products from AWS Marketplace. Additionally, if you are an AWS Marketplace seller, you cannot purchase your own product from another AWS account that shares your tax registration number using a credit card. For these purchases, you can complete the transaction by changing the payment method to wire transfer.

45. Can payments for AWS Marketplace services invoiced through AWS Korea be issued to the same bank account for AWS Cloud service payments?

No, customers have to pay separately. Please note that we will be creating Virtual Bank Accounts for you to pay for your purchases on AWS Marketplace. This bank account is different from the bank account you use for cloud service payment. You may need to register this separate bank account for your procurement process.

46. Which payment currencies and payment methods does AWS Korea support for AWS Marketplace purchases?

The same supported payment currencies and payments methods that are available for AWS Cloud services purchases in AWS Korea will be available for AWS Marketplace purchases. Customers paying by invoice method can pay in US Dollar (USD) or Korean Won (KRW). If you have not updated your Payment Currency Preference, you will pay your AWS Korea charges in KRW, the local currency of AWS Korea. Please update your Payment Currency Preference by following these steps. If you are paying by credit card, Korean Won (KRW) is the only supported currency for payments to AWS Korea. Service pricing will continue to be published in United States dollar (USD), and amounts due will be computed in USD and converted to KRW for billing, if you are paying in KRW, subject to the AWS Service Terms.

47. Is there any change to my existing AWS Marketplace subscriptions?

Yes. Existing AWS Marketplace subscriptions will be moved from being facilitated by AWS Inc. to AWS Korea. This applies to monthly invoices for metered products, renewals, and installment payments made on flexible payment schedules.

48. What is the impact to on taxes with this change?

Invoices will include Value Added Tax (VAT) on all service charges for invoicing South Korea customers. AWS Korea will collect the VAT from Korea customers and issue tax invoices or credit card slips to Korea customers. If you are a VAT registered business and pay by invoice, you must enter your Tax Registration Number (TRN) on the Tax Settings page of the AWS billing console, otherwise you will not be able to receive the tax invoice.

49. Does this affect my usage of AWS Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Report (CUR), or the way information is displayed?

No. You can use these tools in exactly the same way you do today. The CUR has a new column to distinguish the AWS Contracting Party. This column is designed to be backward compatible and should not impact reports.

50. How does this change impact my multi payer account?

Please check that your tax information is up to date for all your accounts in your Tax Settings. If you have multiple AWS accounts, your tax invoice or credit card slip will be issued per information you provided in Tax Settings of each AWS account. You must enter your Tax Registration Number (TRN) on the Tax Settings page of the AWS billing console to receive the tax invoice.
If you are a part of an Organization, please note that invoices will be consolidated when possible for all accounts with the same Tax Settings. If you have a payer account and linked accounts and want to reflect your payer account's tax information to linked accounts, please check your tax inheritance feature is turned on.

51. Can I use the same Credit Card for my cloud and marketplace transactions?

If you already have a South Korea credit card added to your account for AWS cloud services, the same credit card will be used for your Marketplace purchases.

AWS Korea Marketplace - Sellers

52. What VAT invoice will I receive for my purchases from AWS Marketplace?

From April 1, 2025, as a Marketplace facilitator, AWS Korea LLC issues the VAT invoices for each transaction as below:

Non-Korea addressed Independent Software Vendor (“ISV”) directly sells the products to Korea-addressed AWS account: Per Article 53 of VAT Law [Special taxation on supply of service by foreign business], the Marketplace facilitator, AWS Korea LLC is deemed to provide the service and issues a VAT invoice in the name of AWS Korea LLC
Korea addressed ISV directly sells the products to Korea-addressed AWS account: As a Marketplace facilitator, AWS Korea LLC issues a consignment VAT invoice (in this case, Korea addressed ISV is the seller on the consignment VAT invoice)
CPPO transaction where a non-Korea addressed ISV sells to Korea-addressed Channel partner (“CP”) and the same CP sells to Korea-addressed AWS account: (1) For 1st leg between ISV and CP, per Article 53 of VAT Law [Special taxation on supply of service by foreign business], the Marketplace facilitator, AWS Korea LLC is deemed to provide the service and issues a VAT invoice in the name of AWS Korea LLC; (2) For 2nd leg between CP and AWS account, as a Marketplace facilitator, AWS Korea LLC issues a consignment VAT invoice (in this case, Korea addressed CP is the seller on the consignment VAT invoice)
CPPO transaction where a non-Korea addressed ISV sells to non-Korea-addressed CP and the same CP sells to Korea-addressed AWS account: (1) For 1st leg between ISV and CP, the supply is made between two foreign entities in foreign country; thus, no VAT invoice will be issued; (2) For 2nd leg between CP and AWS account, per Article 53 of VAT Law [Special taxation on supply of service by foreign business], the Marketplace facilitator, AWS Korea LLC is deemed to provide the service and issues a VAT invoice in the name of AWS Korea LLC
CPPO transaction where a Korea addressed ISV sells to Korea-addressed CP and the same CP sells to Korea-addressed AWS account: 1) For 1st leg between ISV and CP, AWS Korea LLC issues a consignment VAT invoice (in this case, Korea addressed ISV is the seller on the consignment VAT invoice); (2) For 2nd leg between CP and AWS account, as a Marketplace facilitator, AWS Korea LLC issues a consignment VAT invoice (in this case, Korea addressed CP is the seller on the consignment VAT invoice)
CPPO transaction where a Korea addressed ISV sells to non-Korea-addressed CP and the same CP sells to Korea-addressed AWS account: (1) For 1st leg between ISV and CP, the zero-rate is applied to the export of service; thus, no VAT invoice will be issued; (2) For 2nd leg between CP and AWS account, per Article 53 of VAT Law [Special taxation on supply of service by foreign business], the Marketplace facilitator, AWS Korea LLC is deemed to provide the service and issues a VAT invoice in the name of AWS Korea LLC
Please note that in case the same legal entity with same Tax Registration Number (also known as a TRN, Business Registration Number (BRN), VAT Number, VAT ID, or VAT Registration Number) sells and purchases the products in the Marketplace facilitated by AWS Korea LLC, the transaction is regarded as self-supply of the service and no VAT invoice is issued.

53. What is changing?

Amazon Web Services Korea LLC (“AWS Korea”) will be the contracting party for business entities organized or incorporated in South Korea to sell paid offerings in AWS Marketplace. Please note, AWS Marketplace sales to AWS customer accounts based in South Korea will be facilitated by AWS Korea. If you are a Korea-addressed seller, you can sell paid software in AWS Marketplace on or after this launch. Disbursements from transactions with AWS customer accounts based in Korea will be made by a 3rd-party payment processor’s bank account in US Dollars (“USD”) to your registered US bank account or your local Korean bank account which can accept USD disbursements or virtual US bank account with Hyperwallet.
The Service Terms for AWS Marketplace Sellers (https://aws.amazon.com/legal/seller-terms/) will be updated to reflect this change, and your continued use of AWS Marketplace after the change will constitute your acceptance of the new agreement.
AWS Marketplace customer invoices will include Value Added Tax (VAT) on all service charges for invoicing South Korea customers. AWS Korea will collect the VAT from Korea customers and issue tax invoices or credit card slips to Korea customers. If you are a non-Korea-addressed seller, AWS Korea will remit the collected tax to tax authority. If you are a Korea-addressed seller, AWS Korea will remit the collected tax to you and you should remit it to tax authority.
Review FAQ for getting the disbursement (https://aws.amazon.com/legal/awsk/#56-1) to understand the requirements to complete the Know your customer (KYC) process, the bank account verification process, and add a secondary user for the KYC procedure. Your South Korea buyer transaction funds cannot be disbursed until you complete these three steps.

If you are a non-Korea-addressed seller, VAT will not be charged on your listing fee(s), and you will receive a listing fee invoice only. If you are a Korea-addressed seller, VAT will be charged on your listing fee(s) and you will receive a listing fee invoice and tax invoice.

If you are a non-Korea-addressed channel partner and transact with AWS customer accounts based in South Korea, you will receive a non-payable invoice for the transaction between you and your Independent Software Vendors (ISVs). If you are a Korea-addressed channel partner and transact with AWS customer accounts based in South Korea, you will receive a non-payable invoice and a tax invoice for the transaction between you and your Independent Software Vendors (ISVs).

54. How do I sell through this legal entity?

You need to complete the Know your customer (KYC) process, the bank account verification process, and add a secondary users for the KYC procedure. Your South Korea buyer transaction funds cannot be disbursed until you complete these three steps. Please refer to the steps in the #55.

55. Do I need to relist my products to sell through AWS Korea?

No, there is no need to relist your products. If you are selling to customers in South Korea, the AWS Marketplace facilitator is AWS Korea and customers will receive the applicable invoice at the time of invoicing.

56. How do I get paid for sales of my offerings through this legal entity?

Disbursements from transactions through this legal entity will be made by a 3rd party payment processor in US Dollars (“USD”) to your registered US bank account or your local Korean bank account which can accept USD or virtual US bank account with Hyperwallet. Your South Korea buyer transaction funds cannot be disbursed until you complete the following three steps:

Complete Know Your Customer process to verify the identity of your company and key individuals in your company, such as point of contact, beneficial owner, and legal representative.
Complete bank account verification process to verify your disbursement bank account that is listed in the Payment Information tab in the AWS Marketplace Management Portal.
Add a secondary user for the Know Your Customer procedure. Secondary users are individuals who can amend KYC information, control the flow of funds or refunds, and change financial information, such as bank account details.

57. Are there differences in the KYC process for AWS Korea and AWS EMEA SARL?

No, there is only one KYC process that applies for both AWS Korea and AWS EMEA SARL. Completing this process enables fund disbursement for AWS Korea transactions and simplified tax invoicing experience for AWS EMEA SARL transactions.

58. What is the impact on my taxes with this change?

If you are a seller based in South Korea,
AWS Korea will charge the Value Added Tax (VAT) on your products sold to the AWS customer accounts based in South Korea. AWS Korea will issue a Request for Payment, Supplemental Billing Information, and consignment tax invoice for the product sales. Please note that you are responsible for remitting the VAT to the tax authority. AWS Korea will charge the VAT on your listing fee. The listing fee and associated VAT on such listing fee will be netted against your disbursements for your sales to an AWS account based in Korea on AWS Marketplace, which composed of products sales and associated VAT on such products.

If you are a channel partner based in Korea and purchase the product from Independent Software Vendors (ISV) and resell it to the AWS customer accounts based in South Korea, you will receive (1) a non-payable invoice, Supplementary Billing Information, and either a tax invoice or consignment tax invoice for the transaction between ISV and you and (2) a Request for Payment, Supplementary Billing Information, and consignment tax invoice for the transaction between you and the AWS customer accounts based in South Korea. Please note that you are responsible for remitting the VAT to the tax authority for the transaction (2).

If you are a seller based outside South Korea,
AWS Korea will charge the Value Added Tax (VAT) on your products sold to the AWS customer accounts based in South Korea. AWS Korea will issue a Request for Payment, Supplemental Billing Information, and tax invoice for the product sales and will remit the collected VAT to the tax authority. AWS Korea will not charge VAT on your listing fee. The listing fee will be netted against your disbursements for your sales to an AWS account based in Korea on AWS Marketplace, which composed of products sales and associated VAT on such products.

If you are a channel partner based outside South Korea and purchase the product from Independent Software Vendors (ISV) and resell it to the AWS customer accounts based in South Korea, you will receive (1) a non-payable invoice for the transaction between ISV and you and (2) a Request for Payment, Supplementary Billing Information, and tax invoice for the transaction between you and the AWS customer accounts based in South Korea. For the transaction (2), AWS Korea will remit the VAT to the tax authority for the transaction (2).

59. How does AWS Korea determine the tax address and country for my account(s)?

AWS determines the location of each individual AWS account, based on certain information, including your Tax Registration Number (also known as a TRN, Business Registration Number (BRN), VAT Number, VAT ID, or VAT Registration Number), your billing address and your contact address. If you do not have a TRN or if you have a TRN but do not provide it, your location will be determined using your billing address or contact address.

60. How do I update my tax address as a seller?

You must provide your tax information so that AWS Marketplace can accurately report applicable taxes on your product sales. Below are the steps:

Sign in to the AWS Marketplace Management Portal, and choose Settings.
Select Go to tax dashboard in the Payment Information section.
Complete the Tax interview.

To sell professional services on AWS Marketplace, you must complete the Tax Questionnaire for DAC7. After you have completed the tax information, return to the Settings page, and then select Complete VAT information, if it's available. This selection redirects to the Tax Settings page on the AWS Billing console.

61. Is reporting changing? How do I reconcile disbursements from AWS Korea?

There are changes in reporting to consider in order to reconcile disbursements from AWS Korea. To reconcile disbursements, we will add broker details for the Korea MP operator and indicate transactions where VAT on the listing fee was assessed to the revenue, disbursements and tax dashboard indicated by the seller listing fee invoice ID and AWS tax share listing fee. These reports are accessible in the Insight dashboards and available through the Seller Data Delivery Service (SDDS) for sellers who have programmatic reporting requirement.
