Data foundation for analytics and AI
Accelerate analytics and AI innovation with a unified data foundation on AWS
Friday, March 14, 2025
9:00 AM – 1:00 PM PT | 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM ET
Organizations are seeing their analytics and AI workloads increasingly converge around the same datasets, and they aren't using analytics and AI tools in isolation. This evolution has led to increased collaboration between data analysts, scientists, engineers, and app developers, all working in an environment where traditional boundaries between data, analytics, and AI are becoming less distinct. As many organizations grapple with data scattered across various systems, like data lakes, data warehouses, and applications, AWS continues to innovate to help customers unify their data. With Amazon S3 and the next generation of Amazon SageMaker, AWS offers comprehensive capabitlies across storage, analytics, and AI to streamline workflows and manage data effectively – all while delivering unmatched price-performance, scalability, security, and governance.
About the event
AWS Pi Day started in 2021 as a celebration of Amazon S3' 15th launch anniversary. The fifth annual AWS Pi Day will feature in-depth discussions with AWS product teams on how AWS has continued to invest and innovate to help customers build a data foundation for a unified, seamless experience managing and using their data for analytics and AI workloads. Join us to learn about the latest innovations through hands on demos and ask questions throughout our interactive live stream.
Who should attend
If you are a developer, hands-on practitioner, or technical decision maker involved in design and implementation decisions regarding data infrastructure, analytics and AI application design, and how the applications you’re creating will be used by your business, AWS Pi Day is built for you.

Event agenda
Keynote: Data foundation for analytics and AI with Andy Warfield, VP and Distinguished Engineer, Amazon S3
9 AM - 9:30 AM PT | 12 PM - 12:30 PM ET
AWS continues to rapidly innovate on storage, analytics, and AI solutions to empower customers to get the most out of their data and applications with minimal operational burden. In this keynote, learn about what AWS has done to remove friction in building a data foundation that enables a unified, seamless experience managing and using data for analytics and AI workloads.
Building a data foundation with Amazon S3
9:30 AM - 10:45 AM PT | 12:30 PM - 1:45 PM ET
Building a data foundation is the cornerstone of accelerating analytics and AI workloads, enabling organizations to seamlessly manage, discover, and utilize their data assets at any scale. Amazon S3 is the world's best place to build a data lake, with virtually unlimited scale, and provides the essential foundation for this transformation. With AWS's latest innovations, including S3 Tables with native Apache Iceberg support for 3x faster queries and S3 Metadata for near real-time data discovery, teams can build and deploy solutions faster. AWS helps customers leverage their S3 data lake as a unified storage foundation that seamlessly supports both traditional analytics workloads and emerging AI/ML use cases, significantly reducing operational complexity.
Accelerate analytics and AI with the next generation of Amazon SageMaker
10:45 PM - 12:50 PM PT | 1:45 PM - 3:50 PM ET
For accelerating analytics and AI, the next generation of Amazon SageMaker delivers an integrated experience with unified access to all your data. Collaborate and build faster from a unified studio using familiar AWS tools for model development, generative AI, data processing, and SQL analytics, accelerated by Amazon Q Developer, the most capable generative AI assistant for software development. Amazon SageMaker Lakehouse empowers organizations to accelerate innovation by unifying access across data lakes and data warehouses, breaking down the traditional silos between data sources. Through integration between Amazon S3 Tables and SageMaker Lakehouse, customers gain automated table maintenance, simplified operations, and unified access to the broadest set of analytics and AI services.
Closing remarks: Jeff Barr, VP AWS Evangelism, wraps up AWS Pi Day 2025
