Meet Shon, Director of Software Engineering here at Coursera! Shon's been helping to build Coursera from the backend for the last six years, when he started as an Engineering Manager. Back then, Shon was responsible for ensuring that his team delivered impactful results while maintaining technical rigor. Today, he leads six foundational engineering teams, shaping the direction of our product development. "As a group lead, my responsibilities include setting the direction for the organization, ensuring alignment within and across teams, and removing roadblocks so that the teams can execute well," he says. His secret to career growth: A mindset he calls "extreme ownership,” which involves identifying problems and working collaboratively to solve them—even if it's not your direct responsibility. Meet Angela, a working mom and recent Gies College of Business - University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign iMBA graduate!
