I'm trying to replicate the logo engraving technique used in this product visualization done by Derek Elliott in Blender. The challenge is achieving:
- Sharp-edged recessed geometry - The logo appears deeply inset with clean, defined edges and subtle beveling
- Proper cavity shading - The recessed area shows realistic shadow and reflection behavior
- Clean topology - Without creating subdivisions that impact the underlying hard-surface shape
What I've tried:
option 1 : boolean modifier :
option 2 : adding a displacement modifier :
I have seen the option of using the bump node, but the bump node only gives the illusion of the logo being engraved, I want it actually to be engraved exactly like in the CharaChorder USB stick.
